Scholarships & Student Support

Seattle Colleges is an open-access institution. We recognize that significant gaps in educational attainment persist for first-generation students, students of color, and students from more modest economic backgrounds. Your contributions remove financial barriers to college enrollment and reduce student debt.

Read stories of the impact scholarships have on our students' lives.

We know that continuous enrollment from high school directly to college education results in higher degree completion and career attainment, stronger families, community, work force, and industry. Scholarships also allow nontraditional-age students, many of whom have family and work commitments, to achieve their goals and obtain similar outcomes.

In addition to covering the cost of tuition, scholarships provide other benefits to the student experience:

  • Reduced need to work full or part time, allowing more time for study and a higher likelihood of graduation on schedule
  • Increased opportunity to explore interests and leadership opportunities beyond the classroom
  • A more solid financial footing upon graduation, with less student debt

Some special initiatives for consideration appear below.

Seattle PromiseSeattle Promise

In partnership with the city of Seattle, Seattle Promise currently offers up to two years or 90 credits of free tuition to all graduates of Seattle public high schools regardless of GPA, income, or background. For 2020, the program has expanded to offer this option to all Seattle public high school graduates who choose to attend any of the Seattle Colleges. Graduating high school seniors are encouraged to apply in the fall of their senior year. There is a need for contributions to an endowment fund that will sustain the Seattle Promise today and into the future when the city of Seattle’s supporting education levy sunsets after its seven-year term. Give now to Seattle Promise.

Completion Scholarships

Financial need remains one of the most significant barriers to completion for our students. Completion Scholarships provide one-time financial support to students who have already completed the majority of their college coursework and need additional financial support to help them cross the finish line for their degree. Give now to Student Scholarships (select the Completion Scholarships Fund).

Student Support Services

Seattle Colleges Foundation invests in a variety of strategic priorities that promote college access and degree completion.
