Support the Seattle Culinary Academy

We all have part of the recipe for a strong and stable Seattle Culinary Academy.

It's not easy running one of the nation's premier culinary academies, especially if you're a community college like Seattle Central, committed to keeping tuition low. For years, revenues from other Central programs helped subsidize costlier offerings like SCA. But — at Central and community colleges nationwide — the pandemic crushed enrollment and pressured budgets. Earlier in 2022, there was even talk that SCA might need to close.

Happily, recognizing that SCA is a treasure not easily replaced, the community mobilized to help. Legislators are looking into added funding. Industry is organizing and contributing support. Individuals are generously giving, whether because they're SCA alums or simply because they see that good food, a good life, and good community are inseparable.

It will take all the strategies above, on a sustained basis, to ensure the future of the Seattle Culinary Academy. Thanks for being part of it with a gift today! Here are a few examples of program costs we're working to meet (your gift will be directed in ways prioritized by program staff and admins).

$50 | 3 professional rolling pins
$150 | 10 large rubber spatulas
$250 | 1 month of linen service
$500 | 60 flatware settings
$1,000 | 12 dozen dinner plates
